Stop Eleven
3414-3428 Karnes Boulevard
_______________________________________
The road that diverts from Karnes Boulevard was built through these steep lots in 1913. A southern loop was planned to connect with Karnes, but apparently was never built. The four houses built along this drive were all built between 1912 and 1914 by Willard I. Rush, who owned Rush and Rush Real Estate Company with his son, Willard I. Rush, Jr. Before the houses were built, both father and son lived in the stone house behind this drive at 3435 Coleman Road.

These four houses were built for $5000 each and may have been produced on speculation. They are built in different styles on very steep lots and contain basement garages, side stairways to reach the backyards and stone-lined stairways to the front doors.
