The houses at 3330 and 3334 Karnes Boulevard were built in 1922 for the McDonnell Real Estate Company for $7500 each. A Mrs. Bird Miles was the first resident of 3330 and Walter R. Scott was the first resident of 3334. Mr. Scott was an attorney and the secretary of the Kansas City Board of Trade who later became a member of the city council.
As you can see, these two houses are nearly identical. In fact, the differences between the houses were probably added long after they were built. Identical details include the two-story porches supported by Doric columns, gable-within-a-gable façades, matching porch railings and front steps built of flat rocks.Q & A:
What changes have been made to these houses to make them look different? The first-story porch of 3330 has been enclosed. A sliding door on the 1st story and new, narrow siding have been added to 3334.
3341 Karnes was built in 1916 for Robert T. Swofford, youngest brother to James J. Swofford, the patriarch of the branch of the Swofford family that developed this neighborhood. Robert worked for his brother at the Swofford Brothers Dry Goods Company, which was sold in 1907. He later became president of the Fairfield Realty Company. This house was designed by architect Whitman Dart, who designed other houses in the neighborhood for the Swofford family.

The screened porch on the front of the house is supported by Doric columns.
